This translated volume contains a chapter from the first part of the book, or from the chapter on sermons. We now state here for the esteemed readers preliminary acquaintance with this translated volume we state the title of several opening sermons and also the title of the concluding speech. It most be take into regard that the aim of the esteemed compiler is not arranging the subject of speeches and letters etc. but in this book we observe diverse debates beside each other, just like a garden full of different colorful flowers.

The compiler, in the meantime, has also given the speeches and letters etc., a number, but this number doesn't coincide with the number of speech and letter in different copies of the Nahj-al-Balaghah the numerous selected parts from a sermon, for example, sometime in on copy has only on number, but in another copy, several numbers. We, tike into account the existing numbers in the translation, in the books, contents.

The attributes of true unity:

At the beginning of the honorable Nahj-al-Balaghah there are numerous sentences with these titles from on of Imams (p.b.u.h.) lengthy sermons: God; the creation of the world; the creation of the angels; the creation of Adam; the choosing of the prophets; the appointment of the last prophet; the Quran and the laws on may.

The sermon of the unity is presented on such a high status that even the philosophers haven't reached it, and the meaning ((attribute)) about God, is stated in such a pure way that it is suitable with complete unity and far from being similar to the created. Quoted from the sermon on this subject is: his essence is far higher for you to reach with deep thought and profoundness. ((la yonalah ghous al-fatan )) he who in all his attributes is unlimited and eternal.((al-lazi laisa la sefat hadd-e-mahdoud)). Speech and thought about the creator should be completely free from curtnees and deceit and in the from of any sort of attributes-with the meaning of creation that we comprehend- is known far from his pure and unique essence as the meaning of attributes, itself, testifies its contradiction and seperation from the characterized ((Va kamal al-ikhlas laho nati al-sefat anho la- shahadate kde sefat anha ghair al-massouf)) he is with everything but not beside them as an article.

Imams (p.b.u.h) speech after the saffein war, is the second selected sermon. Parts are also chosen of this sermon with these titles: praise and unity, explaining the situation before the prophets appointation, the prophets protegee, and others who separated from them and went astray.Frankly, the problem of the caliphate.

The third sermon, is one of the most famous sermons called the sermon of the Shegh-heghiyyeh ( the cry of the camel). In this sermon, the story of the caliphate after the prophet (s.a.w) and those who, by force and in sequence, sat in the caliphates chair. Ali(p.b.u.h) clearly states his patience confronting these injustices and hardships.

Continues till finally, on their own free will, the people took refuge in that honorable person and made him accept the apparent leadership under pressure.

Speech no. 121, the last speech in this volume, is an argumentation and talk with the khavarej minority, who broke their allegiance and persisted on denying Ali's (p.b.u.h) government. Ali (p.b.u.h) personally visited their camp and put his argument to them.
